HUNT WRITE UP BY LUKE CLARK
WHAT TO EXPECT
I started hunting Missouri in the spring for snow geese, which eventually led to a short career at guiding those stubborn birds. I lived in the St. Louis area for close to 4 years and got to experience the historic hunting clubs of St. Charles County. The state has a lot to offer, especially if you are a mallard purist or are crazy for spring snow geese.
Temps ranging from hot and humid (Sept) to moderately cold (January)
Boat not needed, but can help, especially if you plan to hunt the Mississippi or Missouri Rivers
Spring snows are no guarantee, but if you do plan to chase them, you can start near Southeast Missouri and follow them all the way to the Northwest side of the state (private access)
Grain Fields, Flooded Grain Fields, Marshes, River bottoms and Some Lakes
Targeted Species - Mallards, Gadwall, Specklebelly, Snow Geese, Canada Geese
Mallards / Gadwall / Specklebelly / Snow Geese / Canada Geese
